GENEVIEVE "Jenny" HASTINGS May 10, 1922 - May 9, 2010 Genevieve (Jenny) Hastings passed away May 09, 2010 at the Castle Ridge Care Center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, just one day shy of her 88th birthday. Jenny or Geno, as she was known to her nieces and nephews, was born in McIntosh, MN on May 10, 1922 to Edwin and Maria (Klingstrom) Johnson. Her father owned a livery and farmed and her mother was a homemaker. She lived with her family in the Fosston area until she graduated from Fosston High School with the Class of 1941. In 1942, Jenny was united in marriage to Walter Haltli and moved with him to Sioux City, Iowa where Wayne and Linda were born. After their divorce, Jenny met and married Edward Donald Force, who was a veteran of the United States Air Force. They bought a home on Cook Street in Sioux City, IA and the family lived there for five years after he passed away in 1952. Jenny loved the Lord and while serving her church as a secretary, felt His leading her to become a Home Missionary. She packed up her children, pets, and household and moved to Castile, New York for three years where she earned a degree in Bible Studies from Elohim Bible Institute. After graduation, she accepted a mission assignment working with Oak Hills Bible Fellowship in Park Rapids, MN teaching "Release Time" and "Know Your Bible" classes. She was married to Carl Nelson of Dorset for 20 years until his death in 1982, and she joined him in membership at the (then) Evangelical Free Church in Nevis. She became an LPN and retired from Ah Gwah Ching Nursing facility in Walker at the age of 62 after working there for 20 years. Just before retiring, she married Kenneth Hastings whom she met at the Nevis church, moved to his home north of Nevis, and lived with him until his death in 1993. She was a fiercely faithful Christian who was a good example of Jesus" love. Jenny loved animals, couldn"t pass up taking in a stray dog or cat, and was an avid bird-watcher. Jenny will be lovingly remembered by her children: Wayne Force of Bloomington, MN and Linda (John) Komula of Eden Prairie, MN; her brother, Glenn; Four grand children; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 step-children: Bernadette (Donald) Parks, Marilyn (Charles) Olson and John (Sharon) Nelson; 1 step-daughter-in-law, Elsie Nelson; 10 step-grandchildren, 18 great step-grandchildren and 2 great-great step-grandchildren.
