Veda Lesley Klier

Veda Lesley (Cooper) Klier, age 82, of Menahga, MN, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Park Rapids, MN.

Veda Cooper was born on November 26, 1942, on the family farm in Arago Township, MN, the daughter of the late George and Enna (Youmans) Cooper. She was raised in Arago and attended school in Park Rapids, MN. On November 2, 1963, she was married to August “Mike” Klier. The couple moved to the Twin Cities where she was a stay-at-home mother for their young children. In the 1980’s the family moved back to the Park Rapids area. Now that her children were older Veda decided to go back to school training as a chef at Detroit Lakes Technical College in 1985. She worked at various restaurants and finally as a cake decorator at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN. In 1989, they moved to Menahga where she lived happily until her health declined. In her free time she enjoyed baking, being outside walking her dogs, listening to the radio, reading, and especially taking care of her grandchildren and being with her family.

Veda is survived by her children, Kelly Klier, Michelle (Tony) Yliniemi, Wendy (Doug) Buck, Barbara (Chris) McKenzie, and Annette (Jeff) Walker; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Irene Willenbring and RuthAnn Rodeman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, August “Mike” Klier; parents, George and Enna Cooper; sister, Yvonne Larson; brother, Wallace “Red” Cooper; and granddaughter, Lisa.

A celebration Of Life for Veda will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Jones Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN, with a time for visitation one hour before. Inurnment will be at Arago Cemetery immediately following the service.
