ROBERT WALTER HAND

June 1, 1930 - March 27, 2019

                Robert Walter Hand a long time Osage, MN area resident, peacefully passed into eternal life at the Estrella Oaks Rehab and Care Center in Georgetown, Texas with his son, John at his side.

                Robert was born in Detroit Lakes, MN on June 1, 1930 to Walter M. and Ruth (White) Hand.  He grew up in the Ponsford, MN area where his dad logged.  He attended country school near his home through the eighth grade and then went on to attend high school in Park Rapids from where he graduated with the Class of 1950.  Shortly thereafter, Bob entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country in the Korean War.  After receiving his honorable discharge on October 21, 1954, Robert returned home to Ponsford, MN.  On July 3^rd, 1959, Bob was united in marriage to Martha Marie Christianson.  Their union was blessed with three children: Paul, John, and Mary.  As a young man, Bob operated his own business fabricating formica countertops and installing flooring. From 1964 to 1975, Bob went into partnership with his brother, Richard in constructing single-family homes in Anoka and Townhouses and Apartment buildings in Golden Valley. In addition, he built three houses and one duplex in the Twin Cities on weekends and evenings.  Robert believed strongly in working hard and honestly.  He enjoyed taking his family camping trips and enjoying other outdoor activities with them as often as he could throughout the beauty of the northern MN forest and lake country.  In 1997, Bob and Marie moved to a lake home on Straight Lake near Osage.  He loved to fish on Straight Lake in his Pontoon with his beloved Marie.  He also enjoyed big game hunting in Wyoming and Montana and Moose and goose hunting and fishing in Canada.  Robert was a man of faith and loved to spend time talking with the Lord and reading and studying his Bible each day.

                He will be lovingly remembered by his two sons: Paul Hand of Minneapolis and John (Saronna) Hand of Georgetown, TX; his daughter, Mary (Kevin) Cann of California; his three dearly loved grandchildren: Jacob Hand, Samantha Hand and Jessica Hand; four precious great-grandchildren; two brothers: Richard (Irene) Hand of St. Francis, MN and Raymond (Kathy) Hand of Cushing, MN; one sister, Ruth (Stan) Parvey of Elk River, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

                Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie on May 4, 2018 and his brother, Russell.

                Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Grace Community Church in Osage, MN with the Rev. Paul McKibben officiating.  Casket bearers will be his nephews: David Christianson, Dennis Christianson, Dean Christianson and Doug Christianson and friends: Andy Aho, Jeremy Aho,  Warren Nickerson, William Tanfield, Kevin Baker and Tim Johnson.  Interment will be made next to his precious wife, Marie in the Riverside Cemetery at Osage, MN.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Friday evening, April 12^th at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and will continue at the church beginning one hour prior to the service.  The Grace Community Church family will host a luncheon following the funeral service.  To watch the video tribute or to leave online condolences please visit www.jonespearson.com
