Richard “Pappy” Joseph Martin, age 70 a Park Rapids, MN resident, passed from this life to eternal life on, January 25, 2022, in Detroit Lakes, MN, at Oak Crossing Nursing Home. Richard was born on April 17, 1951, in Breckinridge, MN. His parents were the late Donald and Mable (Rodland) Martin. Richard grew up in Milnor, ND, Richard’s military service ran from 1969 to 1973 with two tours of Vietnam. He gained his GED in 1973 while stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. On June 6, 1969, Richard was united in marriage to Terry Lavonne Auran at Maxbass English Lutheran Church in Maxbass, ND. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Brenda (Dan) Splittsstoesser of Park Rapids MN, Richard Jr. “Animal” Martin of Fargo, Darcie Martin of Wahpeton, ND, Stacy “Deuce” Martin of Fargo, MN. Richard and Terry were married for 52 years. Richard was employed with 3M and had managed a café in Wyndemere, ND, until they moved to Fargo, ND. While in Fargo Richard worked for Advanced Cable and Dish Network. In 2006 Richard and Terry moved to Park Rapids. He then retired in 2010. Richard was active and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Richard Loved to get on his motorcycle, go for long rides. He helped start the American Legion Riders. His biggest passion was to help the Veterans acquire equipment for disabilities and programs to aid them. Richard was a Veteran himself. Richard is proceeded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Terry, His four children: Brenda, Animal, Darcie, Deuce. Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Siblings: Ron, Randy, Donna, Brian, Debbie.
