Raymond James Wolf

Raymond James Wolf, age 91, of Nevis died on March 11, 2021 in Brainerd Minnesota. He was born on July 2,1929, in Hinckley, MN to Thomas C. and Anna R. (DeRungs) Wolf. He was born on the family farm, the youngest of 10 children. He attended rural school through 8th grade. He graduated from Hinckley High School in 1947. He worked various jobs in the Twin Cities and in 1950 he enrolled at Molar Barber College in Minneapolis. He barbered in Welcome, MN for three months. He married his high school classmate, Shirley Ann Goltz, on December 30, 1950, in Hinckley. To this union three children were born. Gary (Sandra) of Wahpeton, ND, Janet (Rodney) Sorenson of Waseca, MN, and Gordon (Rochelle) of St Cloud, MN. Six grandchildren: Jason, Aaron, Jennifer, Jennie, Rachel, and Morgan; nine great- grandchildren: Dillon, Stephen, Ryan, Whitney, Carson, Keyanna, Rayne, Graham and Cora; two great-great grandchildren: Braylynn and Ryder; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. He was drafted in March of 1951. He served in the Occupational Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was discharged in February of 1953. After discharge, he barbered in Chaska, MN and in the Twin Cities. In 1954, he attended Northwest Electronics School and barbered part-time. After graduating, he worked at Gulcks TV in St Paul. In 1956, he started working for Honeywell, Inc. as an Electronic Technician until his retirement in 1985. In 1959, they bought a home in Columbia Heights, MN. In 1966, they moved to Anoka (Ham Lake area), MN. In 1988, they moved to 3rd Crow Wing Lake at Nevis, MN. Ray was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, MN, and a lifetime member of the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post 212. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, cribbage, square and round dancing. He was preceded in death by his wife (Shirley), parents (Thomas and Anna), five brothers (Joseph, Thomas, Harold, Harry, and Gerald), three sisters (Catherine, Mary Loretta, and Frances) and one granddaughter (Rachel) and is survived by one sister (Geraldine). Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, April 10th, at the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, Minnesota with Father Thomas Friedl officiating. The service will be live streamed. Honorary Casket bearers are Ray’s grandchildren; Jason Wolf, Aaron Wolf, Morgan Wolf, Jennifer Wolf and Jennie Szorcsik. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery at Camp Ripley, Little Falls, Minnesota on April 12, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. next to his loving wife, Shirley.
