Phyllis Alberta Zurn

PHYLLIS ALBERTA ZURN January 9, 1950 – August 14, 2019         Phyllis Alberta Zurn, age 69, a long-time Park Rapids, MN area resident, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the home of her daughter, Rachel Crandall north of Park Rapids.      Phyllis was born on January 9, 1950 in Bagley, MN to Harvey and Cleo (Binley) White.  As a small child, she moved with her family to the Park Rapids area where she attended public school.  As a young woman on March 25, 1967, she was united in marriage to Don Ernest Pickett in Park Rapids.  This union was blessed with 3 children: Randy, Rachel, and Russell.  They made their home in the Park Rapids area where Phyllis devoted herself to making a loving home for her husband and children.  She was a great cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious home cooking.  In addition to caring for her family, Phyllis also cleaned many cabins for area resorts.  Phyllis loved the outdoors and spent many weekends camping at Big Mantrap Lake with family and friends.  She also enjoyed fishing the area lakes whenever time allowed.  She had a profound love for animals and enjoyed feeding the deer and watching the many black bears that visited her bird feeders.  On November 5, 1988 she was married to Steve Zurn at the Church of Christ in Park Rapids.  They lived happily together until Steve’s death two years ago.  For the past several years, she has made her home with her daughter, Rachel Crandall here in Park Rapids.      Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Randy Pickett of Nevis, MN, Rachel (Dano) Crandall of Park Rapids, MN, and Russell Pickett also of Park Rapids, MN; nine beloved grandchildren and two precious great-grandchildren; five brothers: William White of Park Rapids, MN, Jerry (Cheryl) White of Park Rapids, MN, Robert (Rose) Fell of Bemidji, MN, Roger (Emily) Fell of Park Rapids, MN and Richard Fell of Park Rapids, MN; one sister, Lorie (Gene) Brown of Park Rapids, MN as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.      She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Thomas; one sister, Rosella; one-half brother, Anthony Fell and one nephew, Raymond White.      Memorial services will be held 3 PM, Saturday August 24, 2019 at the Jones Pearson Funeral Home with visitation beginning one hour prior to the services.        To leave online condolences or to view the video tribute please visit www.jonespearson.com
