PATRICIA JOANNE BURNS December 16, 1943 – February 10, 2020 Patricia Joanne Burns, age 76, of Laporte, MN formerly of Bend, Oregon, peacefully passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the Heritage Living Center, Park Rapids, MN. with her husband, Chuck at her side. Pat was born on December 16, 1943, to Ralph and Maryann Gant at the Dago Bay Naval Base in California. She attended school in Bend, Oregon and graduated with the class of 1962. Pat then went on to attend COCC Community College where she majored in shorthand and economics. On April 6, 1968 she was united in marriage to Charles Burns and this union was blessed with a son, Charles Jr. Pat devoted herself to making a loving home for her husband and her son. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious home cooking. In addition, she worked as a full-time switchboard operator and also a part-time stenographer for the City of Bend, Oregon. In 1972, the young family moved to the Laporte area where they have resided ever since. Pat enjoyed snowmobiling, hiking, riding motorcycle and traveling. She also loved to read, crochet and garden. She grieved deeply the death of her only son, Charles Jr. who died in 2015. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Charles of Laporte, MN; grandson, Gavin Burns of Bemidji, MN; sister, Sally Jackson of Arizona; as well as uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Maryann Gant; and her son, Charles Burns Jr. Memorial services will be held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Park Rapids, MN. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 3:00.
