MICHAEL “Mike” REICHLING

February 25, 1960 – January 20, 2020

Michael “Mike” Reichling, age 59, a lifelong Park Rapids, MN area resident, peacefully entered Heaven’s glory on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN with his wife and family at his side.

Mike was born on February 25, 1960 in Park Rapids, MN to Jim and Louise (Hoff) Reichling.  As a boy, he grew up on his parent’s homestead in Todd Township of Hubbard County north of Park Rapids.  He attended Park Rapids Public Schools and was active in the local chapter of the Future Farmers of America.  He graduated from The Park Rapids Area High School with the Class of 1978.  As a young man, Mike gained employment working in the Produce Section of the Park Rapids Red Owl grocery store for a number of years.  He then worked in road construction for a time.  In 1983, Mike attended the Alexandria Vocational Technical College, graduating top of his class and earning his certification as a professional truck driver.  His first job took him to Fairfax, MN where he hauled livestock throughout the region. Later, he ventured to Langdon, North Dakota where he hauled grain for the Ted Dahl Trucking Company.  He then purchased his own semi-truck and hauled over the road throughout the country.  He specialized in hauling logs locally and over-sized heavy equipment. On February 3, 2001, Mike’s life was fulfilled in his marriage to Annette Marie Schave at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids.  Mike was a man of faith, who enjoyed sharing his love for Christ with others.  He enjoyed attending the Restoration Christian Church and the Eastside Christian Church both of Park Rapids.  Mike loved the outdoors; especially when he could be fishing or camping with his family and friends.  He also loved to tinker with all things mechanical and enjoyed the challenge of solving all kinds of mechanical breakdowns and engineering breakthroughs.  Michael ended his career in November with Kimball Logging, where he lived out his passion of being in the woods with his Kenworth.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soulmate, Annette; his precious daughter, Tlayne Reichling; his step-son, Lane Murphy both of Park Rapids; his three brothers: Bill (Brenda) Reichling and Paul (Julene) Reichling of Park Rapids and Wayne (Tracey) Reichling of West Fargo, ND; his sister, Debra Reichling also of Park Rapids; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, Roger Schave.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Monday January 27, 2020 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and will continue at the church beginning at noon on Tuesday.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Faithbridge Church in Park Rapids with Pastor Andy Spurlin of the Restoration Christian Church officiating.  The Pianist will be Jennifer Juni who will sing, “It is Well With My Soul”.  Jennifer Juni will also sing, “Redeemed” with Dillon Spurlin playing guitar.  The casket bearers will be Bill Reichling, Paul Reichling, Wayne Reichling, Randy Schave, Kelly Kimball and Ken Malz.  Following the service, an ice cream social will be hosted by the Eastside Christian Church family.  Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery of Park Rapids this summer.
