Mabel Nina Carson was born on May 15, 1931 in Lake George, MN to James and Nina (Bingham) Carson. It was in Lake George that she attended public school through the 8th grade. She went on to attend high school in Park Rapids where she graduated with the class of 1949. Following high school, Mabel attended St. Paul Bible College for three years and then attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Mabel taught in Clark, South Dakota for two years and then returned to the Minneapolis area where she taught in the Anoka and St. Anthony School Districts. In 1975, Mabel started her career in health care and worked for the North Memorial Medial System in Robbinsdale, MN for 14 years until her retirement in 1989.
Mabel then semi-retired to the Bemidji, MN area where she kept herself busy working part-time at the Social Security Administration and later at the Bemidji Art Center. In 2004, Mabel moved to Park Rapids, MN.
Mabel always liked reading and writing and enjoyed keeping a personal journal. She was also interested in genealogy and spent many hours working on her family tree.
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mabel was proceeded in death by her parents, James and Nina Carson; her stepmother, Edith Carson, her sisters Pernilla and Blanche Kahlstorf, her brothers Ira, Wallace and Orville Carson.
