Lyle Vold, age 80, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away peacefully at his home on September 2, 2025, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Lyle, the son of Newell and Cornelia (Johnson) Vold, was born in Hibbing, MN, and lived and graduated from high school in Litchfield, MN, in 1963. He attended a year of college and then graduated from business school but chose a career in construction and building homes.
Lyle was drafted into the US Army in July of 1967 and served as a medic with the CoD 1st Med Battalion during the Vietnam War. He would fly into the front lines to help treat and evacuate his fellow soldiers. He returned home from Vietnam in February of 1969 and earned several medals including a Bronze Star. After completing his duty in Vietnam, he did construction work In Alaska for a year and then returned to Minnesota where he settled and completed his career in Park Rapids.
Lyle loved the outdoors, his corvette and motorcycles, and taking trips with friends to Sturgis and elsewhere, but above all he loved animals, especially those that needed a home. His heart was with any animal. He would not harm a mouse or a spider if found in his home. He would set them free outdoors to live their life.
