LuAnn Carol Tatter

LuAnn Carol Tatter, age 61, of Park Rapids, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, with a visitation an hour prior. Jones-Pearson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

LuAnn Carol Tatter was born on September 21, 1964, to Louis G. and Ruth Louise (Edman) Tatter in Bagley, Minnesota. LuAnn graduated from Bemidji High School in 1982 and worked for the Bemidji Occupational Center for several years. She then worked for a short time at the Cass County D.A.C. in Walker, Minnesota, before transitioning to Hubbard County D.A.C.- Create, where she was employed for over 30 years. LuAnn enjoyed working at the Bearly Used Thrift Store, owned by the D.A.C. LuAnn became a resident of Heartland Homes in 1997. She shared an apartment, and later the Spruce House, with 3 housemates, where she was lovingly cared for by many Heartland Homes staff.

LuAnn enjoyed her life with Heartland Homes and the Hubbard County D.A.C. She was active in the community, helping to organize and raise funds for Relay for Life for many years. LuAnn liked to be busy with her friends and family. She loved going out to eat, dancing, riding horseback and crafts. She also participated in Special Olympics and competed in track and field, soft ball, and half-court basketball. She competed and won medals at several state events.

LuAnn loved Jesus and her church family; she loved her Heartland Homes family and her coworkers. She loved music and singing and was never afraid of a microphone; she was willing to bless us with a song at any time.

LuAnn loved to play Yahtzee, Uno, Sequence, and many other games and was very creative with the rules. LuAnn had the ability to make anyone's day brighter with a smile, hug, high five or words of encouragement. She never met a person she didn't like. In fact, LuAnn was pure love and joy.

She is survived by her sisters: Naomi (Terry) Smith of Mesa, AZ; Jennifer (Russ) Lamberson of Bemidji, MN; and Andrea (Bob) Thelin of Park Rapids, MN; and a brother, Greg (Ruth) Tatter of Warba, MN; She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews; an uncle; and many cousins.

LuAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Ruth; and two sisters, Marjorie Tatter and Lorna (Charles) Johnson.
