KENNETH JOEL AKERMAN February 15, 1943 – January 4, 2020 Kenneth Joel Akerman, age 77, a long time Lake George, MN area resident formerly of Chicago, peacefully passed into the full splendor of heaven at his home of natural causes on Monday, January 4, 2021. Ken was born in Chicago, IL to Clarence and Geraldine (Holmberg) Akerman. He attended the Scanlon Private School where he received his formal education. As a young man, Ken gained employment working for the Pullman Standard Company building subway cars for the New York City Subway Complex. He took pride in working in his yard raking, mowing, and making his property look beautiful. He enjoyed cross-stitching on sweatshirts and jackets and generously gave them as gifts to his friends and family. Ken’s family meant the world to him. He deeply grieved the death of his parents and his sisters who he loved very much. He enjoyed attending the Lake George Bible Chapel when he was younger. He had a strong faith in his savior, the Lord Jesus. One of his favorite cross-stitching projects was of the face of Christ which when working on it brought him much comfort. Above all, Ken will be remembered as a kind and gentle man whose sweet spirit found beauty in all things and the good in all people. He will be lovingly remembered by his two brothers: Hoagy (Betty) Akerman of Florida and Mike (Arlene) Akerman of Indiana; his brother-in-law, Bruce Bailey of Lake George who has cared for Kenneth on a daily basis for 25 years; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Jackie, Jean, Geraldine, and Kathleen.
