Joyce Ann Redetzke

Joyce Ann (Erickson) Redetzke, age 75, of Sebeka, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Lakewood Health Systems Nursing Home in Staples, Minnesota. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN, with a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. The burial will follow at Menahga City Cemetery. Jones-Pearson Funeral Home of Park Rapids is entrusted with arrangements.

Joyce was born in Crookston, Minnesota, on July 18, 1950, the middle of three children to William and Ruth (Steenerson) Erickson. She grew up in Crookston and graduated from Crookston High School with the class of 1968. She went on to attend the medical secretary program at the University of Minnesota in Crookston. She was united in marriage to Orlin Rood on December 21, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston, and had four children: Vickie, Roxann, Michael, and Brian. In 1980, the family made their home in Minneapolis, where Joyce worked for Wagner SprayTech. She settled in Sebeka, Minnesota, in 1985, and began her career with the Wadena County Public Health Department, where she worked until her early retirement in 2009, due to health problems. Joyce entered her second marriage to Marlyn Redetzke on June 15, 1999, in Park Rapids. The couple made their home in Sebeka. In 2022, Joyce's health declined further, and she entered long-term nursing care until the time of her passing.

Joyce was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sebeka and helped with their church group. She enjoyed all forms of arts and crafts, especially ceramics. She and her daughter, Vickie, took quilting courses together and the two enjoyed many hours quilting and sewing. Joyce loved spending time with her family while fishing and camping, including at the Rollag Steam Threshers Reunion. Joyce was an avid gardener, a pastime she shared with Marlyn. She was forever present in the lives of her children and grandchildren and always found time to attend their school sporting events and activities.

She is survived by her husband, Marlyn; her children: Vickie (David) Yoder of Bluffton, MN; Roxann (Jeff) Roberts of Blackduck, MN; Michael Rood (Rebecca) of Albany, MN; and Brian Rood (Vieng) of Fertile, MN; a brother, Mark (Becky) Erickson of Chanhassen, MN; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ruth; a sister, Carol (Edward) Schroeder; and an infant great-grandson, Gunner Roberts.
