JOSHUA JAMES BETTS Sr.

May 21, 1981 – March 31, 2020

      Joshua James Betts Sr., age 38, passed away in Cottage Grove, Minnesota on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. 

      Joshua was born on May 21, 1981 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Maurice Betts Sr. and Anita Schleicher.  He attended elementary and middle school in Wausau, Wisconsin where he and his family lived up until he was thirteen and then they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota.  Joshua became a father in September of 1999 and in November, the family all moved to Park Rapids, Minnesota.  Joshua did a lot of construction work in Park Rapids and the Twin Cities area.  He loved fishing, hunting, playing golf, camping, cooking and hanging out with his family and friends. Joshua was blessed with the birth of his first grandchild in July 2019.

      Joshua will be dearly missed by his 3 children: Elizza Betts, Joshua Betts Jr., and Ella Betts, all of River Falls, Wisconsin; his parents Maurice Betts and Anita Schleicher of Park Rapids; his brothers, Michael Schleicher of Park Rapids and Maurice Betts Jr of Wisconsin; his sister, Nicole Betts of Park Rapids; grandson Mateo; his grandmother, Juanita Anzaldi; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

      Joshua was preceded in death by many family members including his big sister, Misty Blue Schleicher.

      Joshua was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, and grandfather.

      A celebration of life service is being planned for a later date.
