Joan Faye Gilpin

Joan Faye (Adams) Gilpin, age 91, of Akeley, MN, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at her home with her loving family at her side.

Joan Adams was born on December 30, 1933, in Camden, IN, to Harlan and Emma Lou (Amburgy) Adams. She graduated from Royal Center High School in Indiana and then attended Logansport Business College and Franklin College. On September 3, 1954, she was married to Ray Gilpin at the Baptist Christian Church in Royal Center, IN. She was a devoted housewife and mother and for 8 years also worked as a paraprofessional for Anoka Hennepin School District #11. She was a charter member of Ozaukee Baptist Church in Cedarburg, WI, a lifetime member of Campers on Mission, and currently a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Nevis, MN.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Ray Gilpin; 3 sons, Robert (Diane), Gary (Janet), and Donald (Kimberly) Gilpin; daughter, Karen (Kevin) McKenna; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Susan, Zula, and Gladys; brother, Robert; and infant brother and sister, Audy and Audrey.
