Jilene “Jill” Mickelson

February 3, 1954 – April 17, 2019

                Jilene “Jill” Mickelson peacefully entered into eternal glory with her Lord and Savior on April 17, 2019, surrounded by her family at Heritage Living Center.  Jill was born on February 3, 1954, in Minneapolis, MN.  She made her home in Park Rapids, MN with her husband, Steve, of 45 years and their three children.  In 1979, Jill made the most important decision in her life to put her trust in Jesus as her Savior and it was evident that she strived to live her life in accordance to His Word.  She and Steve owned and operated Steve and Jill’s Steak and Pizza in Nevis, MN from 1995 to 2013. They sold the business after Jill’s diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease.  Jill was known for her love of Jesus and photography.  Rarely was she seen without a camera, and her family joked that it was her third eye.  She loved to spend time reading her Bible and journaling, spending time outdoors, and being with her family.  After faith, her family meant everything to her.  She was a loving wife, mom and one of the best grandmas you could ask for.  She spoke life into her family with the love of Jesus and taught her grandchildren about Him any chance she could.  She had a heart for people and was the type of person who loved without reservation, and it didn’t matter who you were or where you came from.  Her family grieves her passing, yet with grief comes joy.  Joy in knowing that her life has not ended, but that she is rejoicing in the presence of Jesus. 

                She will be greatly missed, yet lovingly remembered by her husband, Steve; daughter, Christine Mickelson of Park Rapids; son, Christopher (Lisa) Mickelson of Menahga; daughter, Janna (Jim) Phillippi of Park Rapids; six grandchildren, Darien, Elliot, Tristen and Kali Mickelson, Isaiah and Noah Phillippi; sister Debby (Bob) Petersen of East Jordan, MI; brother-in-law, Jeff (Sandy) Mickelson and sister-in-law Leslie (Bennie) Pickett, both of Park Rapids, MN; several brothers and sisters (biological and adoptive); many nieces and nephews.  Jill was preceded in death by her brother, Don, as well as her biological and adoptive parents.

                A special thank you to the staff at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN for helping Jill and her family through the last few years of her disease.

                A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11 am at Faithbridge Church, located on Hwy 71 S, in Park Rapids, MN.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
