Jacqueline (Jackie) Lura Swanson

Jacqueline (Jackie) Lura Swanson, age 97, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Saturday April 20th, 2024, at the Diamond Willow Nursing Home in Park Rapids, MN.

Jacqueline was born on April 18, 1927, in Rockport MA, to  Walter L. and Ruth E. (Harris) Cole. Her mother passed when Jackie was seven years old.  She was raised by her father and grandfather. Jackie attended school in Rockport until the fourth grade. Then the family moved to  Gloucester, MA, where she graduated from Gloucester High School in 1947. Jackie  worked for Sears Roebuck until she joined the Women's Army Corp (WAC). She was  honorably discharged in 1951 with the rank of Corporal. She lived in several states as a military wife, Texas, Oklahoma, Virgina, and the island of Okinawa. Jackie was a member of the Hubbard United Methodist Church and served on the administration board. She was also a member of Puritan Rebekka Lodge. She worked at Park Rapids Pharmacy for 18 years. 

Jackie  will be lovingly remembered by her two sons: Steven (Julie) Swanson of Princeton, MN, and David Swanson of Park Rapids, MN.; five grandsons: Daniel (Sidney), Jesse, Jeremy, Tyler (Jodi), Sean (Shannon); granddaughter: Kristen (Vincent); and nine great grandchildren: Danika, Adeline, Everet, Audra, Nancy Ann, Marcus, Cheyenne, Brynlee, and Grayson.  

She was preceded in death by her husband: Roy Swanson of Park Rapids, MN; Son: Rory (Kathleen) of VA; parents: Walter and Ruth; brothers: Walter and Frank; and sister: Genevive Anderson.
