Helen Ruth Ellingson

Helen Ruth (Cossentine) Ellingson, age 92, of Menahga, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Green Pines Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN.

Helen was born on August 29, 1933, in Eagle Bend, MN, the daughter of the late Harry and Harriet (Johnson) Cossentine. She graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1952. She worked at the Park Rapids Movie Theater after graduating and then for a restaurant owned by Lucille Nagle. It was there that she met her future husband, George Nagle. They were married on January 1, 1953, in Park Rapids, MN. She worked primarily as an assistant in Heritage Nursing Home and Pine Manor being a caretaker for handicapped adults and transporting residents.

Helen is survived by her children, Gwen (Bob) Sorenson, Sandra Tretbar, and Gerald (Cindy) Nagle; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Harriet Handson; and sister-in-law, Betty Cossentine; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death her husband, George Nagle; son, William Nagle; daughter Georgia Beehler; parents, Harry and Harriet Cossentine; sisters, Carolyn Buen and Dorothy Cossentine; brothers, Larry and Doug Cossentine; and son-in-law, Tony Tretbar.

Memorial service for Helen will be held in the Spring/Summer of 2026.
