GERALD WAYNE “Jerry” THUNSTROM November 29, 1946 – September 11, 2020 Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Thunstrom, age 73 of Nevis, MN, formerly a long time resident of Isanti, MN, left this earth unexpectedly on Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Essentia Health Medical Center in Fargo, ND with his loved ones at his side. Jerry was born on November 29, 1946 in Cambridge, MN to Marvin and Inez (Beckstrom) Thunstrom. It was in the Cambridge and Isanti areas that he grew into manhood, attending public schools in Cambridge from where he graduated with the high school class of 1964. Shortly thereafter, he entered the United States Navy where he proudly served his country in Viet Nam aboard the USS Enterprise until receiving his honorable discharge in 1968. He then returned to the Cambridge area and gained employment at the Pre-Stress Concrete Company. On June 27, 1970, Jerry’s life was made complete in his marriage to Myrtice R. Usher of East Bethel, MN and their blessings of a son, Andrew and two daughters: Amy and Toni. Shortly after his marriage, Jerry began constructing elevators for the R & O Elevator Company in a career that spanned over 35 years. Jerry was a man of many interests. He enjoyed music and liked to dance and sing karaoke. He loved to play cribbage and other card games with his children and grandchildren. He loved spoiling his soulmate, Myrtice and always made his family his top priority. He took pride in teaching his children and grandchildren how to repair anything mechanical and many other life skills. He was a life-long member of the International Union of Elevator Contractors. Above all, Jerry will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and for his loyal and helpful friendship to many. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife for these past 50 years, Myrtice of Nevis; his three children: Andrew (Heather) Thunstrom of Eagan, MN, Amy Thunstrom of Nevis and Toni (Taylor) Rupp of Cambridge; 4 granddaughters: Kayla Thunstrom, Gabrielle David, Emily David, and Danika David; three brothers: Duane (Marie) Thunstrom of Buckhanon, West Virginia, Dean (Patty) Thunstrom of Cottage Grove, WI, and Paul (Betty) Thunstrom of Laporte, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Beverly and Carol and one brother, Kenny.
