Eugene “Gene “ Charles Maves age 64, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2023 at the family farm.

Gene was born on December 12, 1958 the son of William A. “Bill” and Jane A. (Morville) Maves of Park Rapids, MN.

He grew up and attended school in Park Rapids MN where he graduated with the class of 1977. He went on to vocational technical College in Staples Minnesota for diesel mechanic. Gene started his career by working at Interstate Detroit Diesel in Fargo ND from 1980 to 1985. Then moved back to Park Rapids to work for school district.

Gene was united in marriage to Carolyn (Barlow) on August 7, 1982 in Snellman MN. and were blessed to have 40 plus beautiful years together and blessed to have three amazing boys – Mark, Scott and Lucas. Gene had taught them everything they needed to know to be a hard working individuals. Gene loved working at the bus garage for 38 years making sure the kids were safe and the buses are running properly he took his job serious. He also loved farming it was his passion raising beef cattle and row crops. He was talking about retiring within the year to do it full time. Gene was also involved with the Youth hockey program which he enjoyed watching and coaching his own kids and everyone else’s kids. Gene was well known in the community for his witty personality he would always make the person he’s talking to laugh.

Gene leaves behind his beloved wife Carolyn Maves of Park Rapids; his three sons Mark Maves, Scott (Cassandra) Maves, Lucas Maves all of Park Rapids. Seven grandchildren Kaitlyn, Eli, Ryan, Tucker, Wyatt, Case and Bailey; two very special friends (like brothers) Howard (Bonnie) Isaacson of Park Rapids, LeRoy (Sandy) Paulson of Park Rapids, other relatives cousins and many friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
