Egon Paul, our beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend, was called suddenly to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026.
Egon lived a very full, joy-filled life in his short time here. He had such an infectious way about him, a light and sparkle that was hard to miss. Egon was born to Darwin and Rebecca Lake on January 14th, 2000, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm, and from a very young age he loved being outside, caring for animals, collecting chicken eggs, and tending his mom’s flowers. As Egon grew to an adult these remained lifelong passions, still gardening, spending hours in the sunshine and beautiful outdoors, and living life barefoot as much as possible. He also loved learning new things, traveling and exploring, music, reading, and cooking. He loved flowers and would often brighten someone’s day with a beautiful bouquet. Egon graduated from Menahga High School in 2018 and soon after he started in the medical field, where his passion of caring for others was evident. He was a gifted caregiver, brightening spaces with his radiant smile. While working as a nurse, Egon was also studying to be a nurse practitioner, with the goal of becoming a functional medicine doctor. He gladly shared his knowledge and expertise in this area to those who asked for his advice. Egon was passionate about many things, but his first love was for God’s Word and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, and he shared this love with those around him. Looking past the faults of others and always quick to forgive, Egon led by example. Egon cherished the people and relationships in his life. He loved and cared deeply for his family, prioritizing family events and quality time together. He valued time with friends and showed up for them in impactful ways, always up for a good time, deep discussion, or spirited debate. In endless ways, Egon was so generous and thoughtful to others. He was such a bright, positive guy, always optimistic and full of energy. A beautiful soul.
In his passing, Egon left a wake of hearts aching at the loss felt by his absence. Though we are unable to comprehend, we hold to the hope and joy that Egon had, grateful for the blessing of who he was.
Egon is survived by his parents Darwin and Rebecca; siblings Milo, Katie, Monty (Mykenzie, Micah), Jenna (Travis Mattila, Diana, Zayne, Mariah, Abigail, Alexander, Marcus), Cody, Carmen (Mitchell Johnson, Trace, Laine, Chan, Lila, Ember), Tyler, Jordan, Riley, Victoria, and Julia; grandparents Paul & Florence Parks and Marlene Lake; aunts, uncles, cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandpa Rodney Lake, uncles Lannon Lake and Michael Parks, and cousin Jessica Alajoki. Egon was special to so many and is dearly missed
