EDITH ANGELINA NOESKE
January 24, 1920 – August 29, 2018

Edith Angelina Noeske, age 98, of Park Rapids, formerly of Osage, MN, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids with her loved ones at her side.

Edith was born on January 24, 1920, to Dick and Esther (Gant) Ackerman on the family farm near Osage, MN.  She was baptized into the Lutheran faith by an itinerant preacher and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids by the Reverend C.J. Nissen in July of 1935.   Edith grew to womanhood in Park Rapids, MN and graduated from the Park Rapids High School with the Class of 1938.  As a young woman, she went on to attend Cables Business School in Minneapolis.  While working in Mpls., she met and married Earl Eliason on January 25, 1942, in Amityville, New York where Earl was an Engineer for the Ranger Aircraft Company.  This union was blessed with two children: Doris Ann and Richard Earl.  They later lived in Royal Oak, MI where Earl worked at the Ethyl Corp.  After WWII, they moved back to Mpls., where Earl began home building in the family business.   Edith, who had dedicated herself to making a warm and loving home for her family, took over the operation of a mail order business selling the “Eliason Stair Gauge” to carpenters following the death of her father-in-law.  In 1966, Earl had a desire to get back into engineering and began working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  His work took them to Colorado in 1975.  Edith sold her business and they both retired back to the Park Rapids area in 1993.  Edith’s life was saddened by the death of her husband, Earl in 2001.  She was united in marriage to Melvin Paul Noeske in 2003 and moved to Osage, MN.  Throughout her lifetime, Edith was involved in church and youth work.  She was very involved with St. John’s Lutheran Church and participated in Sunday School, choir and women’s ministries.  She also served as a leader for both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts programs.  She also enjoyed working with knitting and sewing.  In her spare time, Edith enjoyed square dancing, playing bridge, working with stained glass, cooking, and gardening.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Mel; her children, Doris duBois, Nancy Raty, Marie Hodges, Philip Noeske and Lowell Noeske; her four grandchildren: Michael Eliason, Diane Reyes, Heather Kreatch and Michelle duBois;  three great-grandchildren: Alex Reyes, Chloe and Siena Kreatch; three sisters: Ione Winger, Mary Warble and Francene Ackerman; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents: Dick and Esther Ackerman; her first husband, Earl Eliason, her son, Richard Eliason; and three siblings: Russell Ackerman, Lewis Ackerman, and Frances Curdy; as well as a son-in-law, Roger duBois and a great-grandson, Aaron Reyes.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, September 4th at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Neubauer and Rev. Joel Newton officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.  Following the service, a luncheon will be hosted by her church family.
