Dennis Nickerson

Denny Nickerson, age 86, passed away, in his sleep and at home, from natural causes on April 2, 2022. Denny was all about family. He was resourceful and always shared this with his family and friends. He was known to have a huge garden and seemed to be able to grow anything. He could also make anything and enjoyed fixing things. Denny and Janet were married for 61 years. He attended Air Force training at Scott Air Force Base and then was a member of the Air National Guard. When he left the Guard, he joined Honeywell's Avionics Division, which took him all over the world. He also served the Air Force as a civilian representative with Honeywell. After Denny retired in 1998, he and Janet moved from Arizona to Menahga, MN, in 1999. He spent some of his time purchasing and fixing magnetos. Then he sold them on Ebay to finance his hobbies of fixing and restoring antique tractors and collecting antique dairy farm equipment. , He always loved to show children the milking equipment and how it worked, especially his favorite pieces. He was a member of the Nowthen Threshing Show, Park Rapids Antique Tractor & Engine Club, and Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. He enjoyed attending all their shows, reunions, and swap meets each year and spending time at the museum in Menahga. Denny is survived by his sons Warren and Carolyn (Myers) Nickerson and Arlan and Melinda (Cackoski) Nickerson, and many nieces and nephews, as well as his cat, Spotty.
