David Albert Andreasen

David Albert Andreasen passed away on January 21, 2023 with his family surrounding him. David was born in Robbinsdale, Minnesota on May 17, 1941 to Doretta and Albert Andreasen. He spent his formative years in Minneapolis with his brothers and parents. David graduated from Minneapolis Vocational Technical school and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in the Mediterranean and Scotland. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis blockade while in Scotland. After mustering out from the USN in Philadelphia, he returned to Minneapolis and met the love of his life, Karol Evelyn Samuelson. Karol and David married on October 17, 1964 in Minneapolis and were blessed with 4 boys: David, Creig, James, and Scott. They lived in Minneapolis, Saint Louis Park, Madison Wisconsin, and Ramsey, Minnesota. David worked as an Executive Chef for the Hopkins House, Sheraton Hotel Madison, and the Sheraton Inn Brooklyn Park. David and Karol also owned D & K Cafe, Catering and Concessions. They had many satisfied customers. After a career in the food service industry, David retired to Menahga in 2004. David had a reputation for running a tight ship at work. He could be hard to work for but was fair to his employees. David supported his family in their interests and education. He taught his kids many things including the value of hard work and being good to others. David had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, and working on old tractors. He loved to play dice and cards with his family. David traveled to most of the United States with Karol. They loved to visit with fellow travelers with a cup of coffee and a treat at a rest area. David is survived by wife Karol, sons David Robert Andreasen (Mary), Creig Andreasen, James Andreasen, and Scott Andreasen. Also survived by his brothers Michael (Diane) Grande, Pat (Laura) Grande, sister-in-law Sharon Andreasen, brother-in-law Melvin Samuelson, brother-in-law Russell Wiitala, sister-in-law Jean Salo and many nieces and nephews. He was blessed with grandchildren Karol Jean (Jeremie Storm), Shelly (Matthew Borchert), Mitchell, Clark, Celeste, Aaron, Paul, Annamarie Eckwright (Robert Eckwright IV), Matthew, Teara, James Junior, Logan and Dominic. His great-grandchildren include Aria, Addison, Nova, and Elijah. David was preceded in death by his parents Dorreta aka Jerri Grande, Robert Grande, Albert Andreasen, Milton (Judy) Andreasen, William Andreasen, Richard (Arlene) Andreasen; brothers-in-law Wilfred Samuelson, Leroy Samuelson, Leroy Salo; sisters-in-law Louella Wiitala, Millie Samuelson, and Bernice (BC) Samuelson. Memorial services are scheduled for February 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga. Visitation 1 hour before the service with luncheon following the service.
