Dan Frentress of Park Rapids, MN joined the Lord on November 19, 2023. Dan was born June 11, 1955 in Waterloo, IA to Ed and Joan Frentress. He was the second of six children. Dan attended college at Loras College in Dubuque, IA and transferred to Iowa State University, Ames, IA. After graduation in 1978 he worked for Scott County Iowa as a Project Engineer until 1985. Dan held a Professional Engineer’s License in Minnesota and Iowa.
In 1985 Dan was hired as Executive Director of the Concrete Paving Association of Minnesota. Over his 15 years with the association he worked with the Mn/DOT to solve complex issues such as pavement selection, noise issues, and new specifications with incentives for ride and concrete mix acceptance.In 1997 Dan was awarded the Arnie Laingen award for advancement of quality and excellence of concrete pavements in Minnesota.
In April of 2000 Dan accepted the position as Vice President of Highways for the American Concrete Paving Association. In 2002 he formed his own consulting business specializing in concrete training, research of concrete pavements and managing the ACI-Mn/DOT certification program. Dan was the most upbeat and friendly man many had ever met and a devout advocate for concrete pavement unseen in this modern era.
Dan was full of life and never met a stranger. Dan thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and loved living in his dream location on a lake in northern Minnesota. He spent his time working on his classic cars, going on cruises with the motorcycle club and with the classic car club, fishing with his friends, watching sunsets and looking at the stars in the middle of the night. His most important and cherished times were anything around and with family. He was always proud of his children and grandchildren's accomplishments.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Joan and brother Tom. Dan is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 39 years, Deb, three children Katie Wilkey, Mike (Jessica) Frentress, Rick(Jennah Nelson) Frentress. He was adored by his two granddaughters Mikayla Frentress, Charlotte Wilkey and grandson Jensen and his siblings; Ed (Jerilyn), Julie (Gary) Connolly, Dave (Peggy), Brenda (Pat) Krapfl, along with nieces, nephews, family and friends.
