Chester Disselbrett

Chester Disselbrett, age 88, of Menahga, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on March 24, 2026, with his fiancée, Mary Nunn, by his side.

Chester was born on January 14, 1938, in Akeley, Minnesota, to Barney and Rachel (Quance) Disselbrett. He graduated from Akeley High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1959.

On April 25, 1959, Chester married Bonny Harper. Together they raised three children: Chester Jr., Sherry, and Sandra. Over the years, Chester lived in Akeley, Park Rapids, and Wadena, before finally settling in Menahga.

For more than 42 years, Chester worked in the lumber business, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, taking scenic drives, and watching NASCAR on television. Above all, he loved cheering for the Minnesota Vikings.

Chester is survived by his fiancée, Mary Nunn; his children, Chester Jr. (Lori) Disselbrett, Sherry (Juan) Tejada, and Sandra (John Schouster) Platt; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Mary’s daughters, Amy Pillsbury and her two sons, as well as Amber (Scott) Nunn-Lunsford and her two children. Additional survivors include his brothers Philip (Judy) Disselbrett, Roy (Irene) Disselbrett, and Arrol (Bev) Disselbrett; his sister, Echo Butz; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Rachel; brothers Marvin and Eugene Disselbrett; and sister Delores.
