Carolyn LaVerne Norquist

February 15, 1944 — June 17, 2022

Carolyn LaVerne Norquist passed away peacefully at her residence in a care facility in Park Rapids, MN, June 17th, 2022 after a long battle with dementia. On February 15, 1944, Carolyn was born to Howard and Carol Schulz in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from high school in Hopkins, MN. On June 11th, 1977 she married her husband Emery in his hometown of Roseau, MN. Carolyn worked for Loeffel Ingstrand construction company in Hopkins in payroll for many years. In 1989 they fulfilled their dreams of moving out of the twin cities area and owning a resort, buying Whispering Pines Resort on West Crooked Lake in Nevis. Carolyn took pride in their business and was instrumental in its success. They sold it in 1997 and built a home on the same lake. Carolyn also worked for the Nevis School transportation department as a bus dispatcher. Carolyn loved living on the lake and animals, dogs especially. She also loved music. She was a very gifted pianist, despite often being too shy to show off her talent. Carolyn is survived by her mother Carol, husband Emery, son Eric (Krista), daughter Sherri (Steve), grandchildren Cody (Marisa), Tyler (Larissa), Kayla (Seth), and Jordan, as well as 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard. The family would like to thank the staff at Diamond Willow in Park Rapids, MN, everyone who helped with Carolyn's care, and all who work in the memory care field. The Norquist family extends their thoughts and prayers to anyone who currently is or has family battling dementia. Per Carolyn's request there will be a private family service at Resthaven Cemetery in Nevis, MN.
