BYRON JAMES BEEDLE Sr.

September 12, 1939 – August 17, 2020

      Byron James Beedle Sr., age 80, of Park Rapids, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Heritage Living Center.

      Byron was born in Benson, Minnesota on September 12, 1939 to Irvin and Mathilda (Reinke) Beedle.  He was raised and attended school in Benson, Minnesota. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1964 to 1968.  Byron moved to Motley, Minnesota where he met and married Leona Alta Benson.  This union was blessed with five children: Byron James Jr, Melissa Ann, Darsey Mae, Shauna Marie, and Mary Lou.  The family resided in Motley for several years where Byron did some farming and was also self-employed.  They moved to Nimrod, Minnesota, and in his later years, he settled in Park Rapids, Minnesota.  Byron attended the Church of Christ where he was baptized and was a member until his death.

      Byron liked to work with scrap metal. He loved to fish on Spider Lake and Rainy River near Canada for Northern Pike.  He also enjoyed taking road trips, especially to National Parks.

      Byron is survived by his son, Byron James Beedle Jr, of Verndale, Minnesota; three daughters: Darsey Mae Sandoval, Shauna Marie Gonzalez, and Mary Lou Beedle, all of Wichita, Kansas; son-in-law, Jose Alberto Gonzalez; and thirteen grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Mathilda; and his siblings: Lila Erdman, Lela Evans, Duane Beedle, and Mildred Cramlet; and daughter, Melissa Ann.

      Memorial services will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the Church Of Christ, Park Rapids, Minnesota with Pastor Scott Warne officiating.
