FUNERAL SERVICES : 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Milaca Evangelical Free Church with Reverend Tom Sahlstrom officiating.VISITATION : 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 30, 2011 and for one hour prior to the services.INTERMENT : Wendell Hill Cemetery, Milaca, MNSURVIVORS : His two daughters: Melanie (Jeremy) Gothman of Foley, MN and Rebecca (Nicholas) Biehn of Brooklyn Park, MN; his five precious grandchildren: Tyson, Jamison and Mattson Gothman and Isabelle and Vivian Biehn; his parents: Bob and Kathy Rowland of Milaca; his two sisters: Susie (Joel) Pike of Princeton, MN and Jill (Dave) Lindstrom of Milaca; his two brothers: Kevin Rowland and Randy Rowland all of Milaca, MN. CURTIS ROBERT ROWLANDFebruary 20, 1955 " June 26, 1911 Curtis Robert Rowland, age 56, a life time Milaca, MN area resident, passed away unexpectedly during his sleep at his home in Borgholm Township southeast of Milaca in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 26th. Curt was born on February 20, 1955 to Bob and Kathy (Abrahamson) Rowland in the old Milaca Hospital. He grew up on his parent"s farm in Borgholm Township and attended the District 52 country school near his home where his grandmother, Ruth Rowland was his teacher through the 6th grade. Curt went on to attend high school in Milaca from where he graduated with the Class of 1973. He then went on to attend Technical College in Staples, MN where he studied heavy equipment mechanics. Curt gained employment working for Nystrom"s Allis-Chalmers dealership in Foreston. Later, he did mechanical work for the George Cline General Motors dealership in Milaca and also had served as the head mechanic for the Milaca Coop Garage. On April 29, 1978, Curt was united in marriage to Sandy Timmer at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. This union was blessed with three daughters: Melanie, Michelle and Rebecca. Their hearts were broken at the death of their 7 month old daughter, Michelle in 1980. The young family made their home in Borgholm Township. In the early 1980"s Curt went to work for the Land O" Lakes Plant in Milaca as a truck driver, a career Curt enjoyed for a number of years. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and grandsons. Curt developed many fine hunting dogs over his life time. He enjoyed all types of hunting; but, hunting bear and raccoon were his passion. He enjoyed making an annual bear hunting trip to Wisconsin with friends there and also his grandsons. He was well known for his skill at bobcat hunting. He will be fondly remembered for his keen ability to relive the excitement of the hunt through his detailed stories. He also loved flying and had earned his student pilots license in 1985. Above all, Curt will be cherished for his devotion to his children and grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. Curt"s love for people lives on through his death by his being a donor. He will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters: Melanie (Jeremy) Gothman of Foley, MN and Rebecca (Nicholas) Biehn of Brooklyn Park, MN; his five precious grandchildren: Tyson, Jamison and Mattson Gothman and Isabelle and Vivian Biehn; his parents: Bob and Kathy Rowland of Milaca; his two sisters: Susie (Joel) Pike of Princeton, MN and Jill (Dave) Lindstrom of Milaca; his two brothers: Kevin Rowland and Randy Rowland all of Milaca as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Curt was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle in 1980; his grandson, Isaiah Biehn in 2009 and his grandparents: Frank and Ruth Rowland and Einar and Elvera Abrahamson. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Evangelical Free Church in Milaca with the Rev. Thomas Sahlstrom officiating. The pianist will be Donna Sahlstrom. The soloist will be Barb Millam who will sing "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and "Till the Storm Passes By". The congregational hymn will be "Because He Lives". The active casket bearers will be Jeremy Gothman, Nicholas Biehn, Brad Rowland, Mark Rowland, Keith Rowland, and Zach Lindstrom. Honorary casket bearers will be his grandchildren: Tyson Gothman, Jamison Gothman, Mattson Gothman, Isabelle Biehn and Vivian Biehn and his nephew, Micah Lindstrom. Interment will be held at the Wendell Hill Cemetery southeast of Milaca. **In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.**
