FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home VISITATION: one hour prior to the service at the funeral on Thursday INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids SURVIVORS: ERNEST "Ernie" JARMANJanuary 4, 1921 " July 6, 2008 Ernest "Ernie" Jarman, age 87 of Walker, MN, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Walker, MN. Ernie was born on January 4, 1921 in Springfield , Nebraska to Lloyd and May (Sloan) Jarman. He grew up in Nebraska working on a ranch with his family. He graduated from high school in 1939 and joined the United States Army in 1943. He met his wife Jean while living in Urbandale , Iowa and they were united in marriage on April 25, 1943 while Ernie was stationed in San Antonio , Texas . This union was blessed with two children: Steven and Vicki. After the end of WWII, they moved to Dexter , Iowa and bought a farm. A few years later, Ernie started working for FW Woolworth moving around the country managing store districts in different cities. In 1963 he purchased the Town Caf in Park Rapids and later purchased the theatre there. They lived on 8th Crow Wing Lake South of Nevis and then moved to Walker . In 1975 they purchased the B&B dime store which they operated until 1988. Ernie was a dedicated, hard working family man who took great joy in the challenge of business and farming. He had a love of horses and cattle. He enjoyed all types of dancing and especially loved to square dance. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki (Russell) Zastrow of Anoka, MN; and two nieces: Elaine Mitchell and Rosanne Hays of Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews from Iowa . He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his son, Steve who was killed in Vietnam in 1971; his parents, Lloyd and May; his two sisters: Golda Stafford and Luella Leeper. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Reverend Ken Nyhusmoen officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral on Thursday. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids. Arrangements provided by the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Memorial Service: 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the funeral on Thursday.
