FUNERAL SERVICES: 11 AM, Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George VISITATION: 6 to 8 PM Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George INTERMENT: Lake George Cemetery ESTHER ALICE HARVEY July 16, 1920 " July 15, 2008 Esther Alice Harvey, age 87, a long time resident of Lake George , MN , passed away peacefully at the Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji , MN on July 15, 2008 . Esther was born on July 16, 1920 in Villard , MN to Henry and Emma (Stuefen) Johannsen. At the age of five, Esther moved with her family to a farm near Lake George , MN . It was in this same area that she attended public schools and grew into womanhood. As a young woman, Esther gained employment doing domestic work for several area families. On January 10, 1939 , Esther was united in marriage to Jerome Harvey. This union was blessed with three children: Shirley, Gerald and Robert. Shirley devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will long be remembered for her delicious homemade meals and deserts. In 1948, in addition to caring for her family, Esther worked outsideher home cleaning cabins. In 1951, Esther began working as a cook at Douglas Lodge in Itasca Park in a career that spanned over 36 years until her retirement in 1987. Each spring, Esther looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she would nurture into gruitful abundance to share with her family and friends. She also raised beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George where she was very active in church work. She was also active in the Lake George Garden and Senior Citizen Clubs. She had served as the President of the Senior Citizens for five years. For five years she was in charge of the Senior meals at the Sr. Center . She also served on the Hubbard County Board on Aging. In 2003 she was voted the outstanding Senior Citizen of Hubbard County. Above all, Esther devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. She will be greatly remembered by her daughter, Shirley (Lyle) Zubke of Lake George; her son, Gerald (Barbara) Harvey of Lake George and her daughter-in-law, Joyce Harvey also of Lake George; her l4 beloved grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; her sister, Lorraine Qualley of Lake George; her sister-in-law, Florence Johannson of Lake George as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert; her grandson, Jason; her sister, Agnes and her six brothers: Ed. Jack, Lester, Walter, Ray and Marvin. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George with Rev. Don Kirchner officiating. Karen Lueth will be the organist. Casket bearers will be Dale Zubke, Kevin Zubke, Jeff Harvey, John Harvey, Craig Harvey, Michael Harvey, Richard Harvey and Joel Harvey. Honorary casket bearers will her grand daughters and great grandchildren. Interment will be made in the Lake George Cemetery . Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George and again Saturday morning beginning at 10 AM . Memorial Service: 11 AM, Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George Burial: Lake George Cemetery Survived by: daughter, Shirley (Lyle) Zubke of Lake George; her son, Gerald (Barbara) Harvey of Lake George and her daughter-in-law, Joyce Harvey also of Lake George; her sister, Lorraine Qualley of Lake George; her sister-in-law, Florence Johannson of Lake George Preceded in Death by: by her parents; her son, Robert; her grandson, Jason; her sister, Agnes and her six brothers: Ed. Jack, Lester, Walter, Ray and Marvin.
