FUNERAL SERVICES: 2 PM Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN VISITATION: 5 to 8 PM Friday, July 25, 2008 Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN and beginning one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. INTERMENT: Racer family plot at the Snellman Cemetery SURVIVORS: husband, John Racer; her son, Kevin (Shellie) Racer and daughter, Robin (Jamie) Dotseth all of Osage; her three beloved grandchildren: Tabitha Racer, Samantha and Nicholas Gibson; two sisters: Elnora Mattson of Osage and Annie Nieminen all of Osage; two brothers: Ralph (Senia) Lindbom and Harold (Mary) Lindbom all of Osage. ALICE W. RACERAugust 30, 1934 - July 20, 2008 Alice W. Racer, age 73 of Osage, MN passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the Hennepin County Medical Center , Burn Unit in Minneapolis with her loved ones at her side. Alice was born on August 30, 1934 on her parent"s farm in Shell Lake Township of Becker County, MN. She attended the District # 82 Country School near her home. As a young woman, Alice ventured to Chicago , Illinois where she did production work at the Bethlehem Tool and Die Company. On June 30, 1957 , Alice was united in marriage to John Edward Racer at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Snellman , MN . This union was blessed with two children: Kevin and Robin. After spending their first two years of marriage in Chicago , the young couple returned to the family farm in Shell Lake Twp. , which they had purchased and engaged in dairy farming. While John was gone working road and bridge construction throughout the region, Alice would milk and care for their dairy herd and put up the necessary crops to feed their herd. In addition, Alice dedicated herself to making a warm and loving home for husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious chicken and dumpling dinners and her homemade pies and cakes. After John started his own construction company, they sold the dairy herd so that they could focus their energies together in the demands of running their own business. Alice managed the office and did all the book work, completed the weekly payrolls, paid all the bills, scheduled upcoming jobs and assisted John in many other aspects of their business for the 35 years they successfully operated the company. Alice enjoyed the out of doors and each spring would look forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she would nurture into fruitful abundance to share with family and friends. She also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and appreciate. Alice had a profound love for animals and especially loved her two puppies Gizmo and Sport who will miss her terribly. She was a long time member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman. Above all, Alice dedicated her entire life to her husband, children and her three beloved grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. Alice will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband for these past 51 years, John Racer; her son, Kevin (Shellie) Racer and daughter, Robin (Jamie) Dotseth all of Osage; her three beloved grandchildren: Tabitha Racer, Samantha and Nicholas Gibson; two sisters: Elnora Mattson of Osage and Annie Nieminen all of Osage; two brothers: Ralph (Senia) Lindbom and Harold (Mary) Lindbom all of Osage; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Signe Ennis and Gladys Dormanen. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN with the Reverend Bill Neumann officiating. The casket bearers will be Jody Yliniemi, Joshua Yliniemi, Robert Ennis, Michael Gibson, Shawn Jensen and Dean Drewes. The honorary casket bearers will be: Harold Lindbom, Edward Ennis, Chester Dormanen, Nicholas Gibson, Samantha Gibson and Tabitha Racer. Interment will be made in the Racer family plot at the Snellman Cemetery . Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN and beginning one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. A luncheon will be hosted by the Gethsemane Lutheran Church following the funeral. Alice W. Racer, age 73 of Osage, MN passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the Hennepin County Medical Center , Burn Unit in Minneapolis with her loved ones at her side.
