FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids. INTERMENT: St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Cemetery in Park Rapids. SURVIVORS: Sons: Thomas (Shawna) of Blaine, MN, Jayme (Patty) of Champlain, MN and Joseph (Milla) of Elk River, MN; a twin brother, John of Anoka, MN BERNARD "Bernie" THOMAS BELAIRJuly 21, 1924 ~ November 21, 2008 Bernard "Bernie" Thomas Belair, age 84 of Anoka, MN, formerly of Park Rapids, MN passed away Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Anoka Care Center in Anoka, MN surrounded by his loved ones. Bernard was born on July 21, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Al and Rose (Sommers) Belair. He was the eldest of twin boys. He attended Catholic grade school at St. Boniface in Minneapolis. Later he attended trade school at the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis where he studied electronics. He was inducted into the United States Navy in June on 1943. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Philippine area. He was honorably discharged on May 21, 1946. He married Adeline Frances Neumayer in October 18, 1958 in Park Rapids. The young couple made their home in Minneapolis. Their union was blessed with 3 sons: Thomas, Jayme and Joseph. During this time, he was employed by the Bremer Floor Company. He also had constructed several cabins on area lakes around Park Rapids. Later he was self employed in the hardwood floor, sanding and finishing business. He also bought and remodeled older homes in the area. His last remodeling projects were several apartment buildings. Bernard retired in 1986 and moved his wife and family to a hobby farm in Dayton, MN where he enjoyed rebuilding model A cars. He and his wife Adeline returned to Park Rapids in 2000. After Adeline"s death in 2006, Bernie lived with his brother John until moving to the Anoka Care Center in 2008. He was a member of the St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids. He is survived by 3 sons: Thomas (Shawna) of Blaine, MN, Jayme (Patty) of Champlain, MN and Joseph (Milla) of Elk River, MN; a twin brother, John of Anoka, MN; 3 grandchildren; 2 special nephews: Paul (Cathy) Neumayer of Anoka, and Eugene (Julie) Neumayer of Gilbert, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Adeline in 2006; one brother Jim; and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Father Thomas Freidl officiating. Organist will be Joy Horejsi. Music led by the St. Peter"s Alleluia Choir. Casketbearers will be Tom Belair, Jayme Belair, Joe Belair, Eugene Neumayer, Paul Neumayer, Tom Keast, Marcus Neumayer, and Micheal Neumayer. Interment will be made next to his wife at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Cemetery in Park Rapids.
