DONALD LEE LINDQUIST March 28, 1933 - December 25, 2014 Donald Lee Lindquist, age 81, formerly of Park Rapids, MN, peacefully joined his precious wife, Rose in heaven on Christmas morning with his loved ones at his side while residing at the Autumn Lane Assisted Living Center near Cohasset, MN. Don was born and raised in St. Paul, MN. After graduating from Marshall High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following honorable discharge, he returned to St. Paul and gained employment with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. On January 5, 1957, he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Lesewski. The union was blessed with four children: Jeff, Jacki, Jodi, and Teri. Continuing his career with Northwestern Bell Telephone, he relocated his family to Thief River Falls in 1969 after being named Regional Manager for northwestern MN. Don was active in Thief River Falls community until 1975 when the family moved to Park Rapids. He continued as District Manager for the phone company until his retirement in 1990. Following his retirement, he and Rose enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Don felt it was very important to serve in his community. In Thief River Falls, he was involved coaching youth baseball and the TRF youth hockey association. He also served as president of the Thief River Falls Chamber of Commerce and with the local Lions, Elks, and United Way organizations. He was formerly a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls and currently a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids. In Park Rapids, Don was a member of Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post #212 and served as a past commander. He was a strong supporter of youth sports and helped organize and manage the Park Rapids Amateur baseball program. He enjoyed following his son, Jeff's hockey coaching career as well as his grandchildren as they participated in hockey, baseball, soccer, golf and dance. Don was a longtime Minnesota Vikings season ticket holder and an avid Twins baseball fan. Don was a member of the Star of the North Marine Corp League and honored veterans in the Marine Corp Honor Guard. Don will be lovingly remembered by his four children: Jeff (Robin) Lindquist of Bloomington, MN, Jacki (Rod) Hanson of Park Rapids, MN, Jodi (Kaj) Doerring of Chanhassen, MN and Teri (Tony) Williams of Grand Rapids, MN; nine grandchildren: Josh, Kelli, Blake, Zach, Grace Rose, Cody, Jacob Donald, Jon and Nicholas Donald, and two great-grandchildren: Jasmae Rose and Ryder. Don is preceded in death by his mother Flora, and his wife, Rose. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 5, 2015 at St Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, MN with Father Tom Friedl officiating. Annette Haas will be leading the music for the mass. Active Casketbearers will be his grandsons: Josh Schwengler, Blake Doerring, Cody Williams, Zach Doerring, Jon Lindquist, Jake Williams, and Nicholas Lindquist. Honorary Casketbearers will be his granddaughters: Kelli Hanson and Grace Rose Doerring and his great-grandchildren: Jasmae Rose and Ryder. Interment will be at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Cemetery in Park Rapids. Military honors will be conducted by the Star of the North Marine Corps League. Ray Vaadeland will play taps. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
