CHARLES B. "Charlie" HASBARGEN January 7, 1942 - March 29, 2015 Charles B. Hasbargen, age 73, a life long Menahga, MN area resident, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Charlie was born on January 7, 1942 at his parent's farm in Runeberg Township west of Menahga. It was in this same area that he attended country school through the eighth grade and then went on to attend high school in Menahga. He graduated with the Class of 1960. As a young man, Charlie farmed with his dad and brother, Curtis. On Valentine's Day, February 14, 1970, Charlie was united in marriage to Joan Elizabeth Bettinger in Farmington, MN. This union was blessed with five children: Chad, Lynn, Leah, Casey and Lisa. Charlie dedicated himself to helping build a productive and efficient farm. They raised breeder hens until 1983 and then Charlie entered the cattle business. Charlie enjoyed farming. He especially liked working in the fields planting, growing and harvesting the crops. He also enjoyed raising apple trees on the farm which he nurtured into fruitful abundance to share with family and friends. Charlie loved the outdoors. He looked forward to deer hunting with his boys each fall and also had enjoyed hunting ducks and geese in Northern MN and Canada. Charlie was a life long member of Bethany Lutheran Church west of Menahga. Charlie's memory will be cherished by his wife of 45 years, Joan; his five children: Chad (Heidi) Hasbargen, Lynn (Adam) Berry, Leah (Tyler) Rebrovich, Casey Hasbargen and Lisa Hasbargen; his six precious grandchildren: Caleb, Carter and Cooper Hasbargen; Annabelle and Benjamin Rebrovich, and Gabriella Berry; his brother, Curtis (Gwen) Hasbargen of Menahga, six sisters: Lois (Charles "Pete") Peterson of Menahga, Lorraine (Don) Vogt of Missouri, Lucille (Ken) Waite of Arizona, Kathleen (Richard "Red) Spadgenske of Frazee; Ardis (Marty) Olson of Sebeka and Marlene (Wayne) Holte of Grygla, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Bethany Lutheran Church west of Menahga, MN with the Rev. Steven Bruer officiating. The organist will be Mary Hanninen. Congregational hymns will be: "In The Garden", "Beautiful Savior", "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagles Wings". The casket bearers will be: Chad Hasbargen, Casey Hasbargen, Norman Peterson, Carl Peterson, Mark Spadgenske, Tyler Rebrovich and Adam Berry. The honorary casketbearers will be: his daughters: Lynn Berry, Leah Rebrovich and Lisa Hasbargen and grandchildren: Caleb, Carter, Cooper, Annabelle, Benjamin and Gabriella. Final resting place will be in the Hasbargen family plot located in the Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery. Following the service, a luncheon will be hosted by the Bethany Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
