Erma E. Moyer

Erma E. Moyer, age 88, a long time Osage, MN area resident, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 while living with her daughter in Loveland, Colorado. Erma was born on June 16, 1926 near Saum, MN to Henry and Hazel (Conrad) Krueth. She attended country school near her home and from a young age, Erma helped raise her nine siblings; performing all the cooking and housework. As a young woman, Erma ventured to St. Paul, where she worked at Midway Hospital as a nurse's aide in the surgery department. In November of 1954, while visiting at home for the weekend she met Robert Moyer, who came up to her family's farm to go deer hunting with her brothers. Instead of harvesting a four legged deer, it was love at first sight and he won the heart of a beautiful young dear named Erma. On November 4, 1955 Erma and Bob were married in Bemidji, MN and this union was blessed with two daughters, Kayla and Jayne. Erma devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and daughters. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Each spring she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden with her mother-in-law, who she loved dearly. She would nurture her garden in to fruitful abundance to preserve for the needs of her family. Erma also taught her daughters to sew at a young age, and was proud that they eclipsed her skills as a seamstress. In 1978 she began working as a cook at Doc's Truck Stop and Café in Osage, and enjoyed working with the young people there. In her later years, Erma's life was markedly changed by her dementia. However, she still enjoyed making quilts and potholders and working word search puzzles. Above all, she loved her husband, children and grandson with all her heart. Erma will be lovingly remembered by two daughters: Kayla (Bob) Zimmer of Loveland, CO and Jayne Moyer of Osage, MN; her grandson, Jake Zimmer of Loveland, CO; three brothers: Floyd (Phyllis) Krueth of Minneapolis, MN, Gordon Krueth of Blackduck, MN and Elmer (Joan) Krueth of Arizona, MN; two sisters: Lena (Delvert) Oftedahl of St. Paul, MN and Lois Skar of Stoughton, WI; and a special sister-in-law, Beatrice Krueth of Blackduck, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law: Raymond and Bessie Moyer; two brothers: Victor and Burton; two sisters: Elsie and Marie; and an infant granddaughter, Kelly Zimmer. Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday June 10, 2015 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN. The active casket bearers will be Lyle Hildebrandt, Dennis Wright, Butch Wright, Greg Price, Mark Delaney and Margie Hall. Honorary casket bearers will be Doc & Tesse Blanchard, Kenny & Donna Lymburner, Mary & Jerry Holmer, Jeff Holmer and Mary Harris. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Osage, MN. Visitation will be held 5 pm - 8 pm on Tuesday June 9, 2015 and on Wednesday beginning one hour prior to the service at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN.
