Selma Viola "Sally" Hays, age 95, of Menahga, MN, formerly of the Twin Cities, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life at her home on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones. Sally was born on November 22, 1919 in Larimore, North Dakota to Albert and Nancy (Hagre) Peterson. She grew up on a dairy farm near Fertile, MN where she attended country school near her home. As a young woman she married Armand Oswald, they were later divorced. Sally then moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area where she worked as a seamstress for many years for the Munsingwear Company. It was there that she met and later married Clyde Hays. He brought much happiness into her life; but, sadly preceded her in death at the young age of 54. In 2000, Sally moved to the Menahga area where she could be closer to her son and grandchildren. Each spring she looked forward to planting a vegetable garden and flower beds which she nurtured into abundance. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious Norwegian lutefisk, lefse, rosettes and krumkaka. Sally was known for her authenticity and her great love for children and animals. Above all, she treasured the times she could spend with her family who she loved with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Dennis Oswald and grand daughters: Dena (Matt) Oswald and Shannon (William) Swenson all of Menahga; as well as her 6 precious great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde and two sons: Jerry Oswald and Steve Lundell both who died in 2014.
