Karen Leone Karl

Karen L. (Sitz) Karl, age 71, a long time Park Rapids area resident, peacefully passed into eternal life on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Fairway Pines Assisted Living Center in Sauk Centre, MN. Karen was born on July 5, 1943 in Dorset, MN to Bernard and Bernice Sitz. Karen was the youngest of nine children. She attended Park Rapids public schools graduating from Park Rapids High School with the class of 1961. Karen married Rodney Karl on May 12, 1962 in Park Rapids. They were blessed with four children: Trygve, Todd, Tracee and Trevor. Early in their marriage Karen worked for Ringers Manufacturing and at the Hubbard County Court House. Karen also worked for many years at the Park Rapids Enterprise then later worked at Northland Lumber in Park Rapids. She was a wonderful baker and cook who will be long remembered for her delicious home cooking and baking. Karen enjoyed life and her family. She loved the outdoors and watching the birds like her late husband Rod did. Karen had a green thumb and enjoyed raising a variety of beautiful plants and flowers. She was a long time member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Park Rapids and was part of the ladies guild. Karen will be sadly missed by three sons: Trygve (Sandee) Karl of Akeley, MN, Todd (Joelle) Karl of St. Louis, MO, Trevor (Kelly) Karl of Sauk Centre, MN; one daughter: Tracee (Lenny Eix) Karl of Park Rapids, MN; one sister: Judy Karl of Akeley, MN; sisters-in-law: Maxine McFarren and Doris Beckerleg; grandchildren: Ashly Karl, Amanda Karl, Brandon (Jessie) Karl, Emilee Edelman, Zachary Karl, Garrett Edelman, Samuel Ness, Megan Edelman, Danny Karl, Dusty Karl and Katie Karl. Great-grandchildren: Hadley Karl (Brandon & Jessie). Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rod in 1998, and three brothers: Gordon, Jimmy and Jerry; and four sisters: Lena, Beverly, Joanne and Jeanne.
