STANLEY ARTHUR EDELMAN May 14, 1936 - November 4, 2015 Stanley Arthur Edelman, age 79, a lifelong resident of the Lake Alice/Lake George, MN areas, passed from this life to eternal life on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones at the Riverview Health Care Center in Crookston, MN. Stan was born on May 14, 1936 on the family homestead in Lake Alice, MN to Eugene and Anna (Hamblin) Edelman. It was in this same area that he attended country school near his home and grew into manhood. As a young man, Stan worked with his family logging and mining in the iron ore mines of Northeastern MN. On July 12, 1958, Stan was united in marriage to Janet Hutchings in Park Rapids. This union was blessed with five children: JoAnn, Louise, Barbara, Darlene and Russell. Stan began a career in commercial building construction in Southern MN where he worked up the ranks to construction foreman of many large jobs. After becoming disabled at work, he enjoyed spending many winters in Arizona where he could be close to his siblings. Stan was united in marriage to Norma Jean Brandenburg on May 4, 1990 and was blessed with the addition of three step-children: David, Kimberly and Tina. Stan loved the outdoors. He was very serious about his hunting and fishing endeavors. In his spare time he enjoyed building many wood working projects. He loved music and especially enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He loved to dance. Stan always enjoyed getting together with his family and friends and playing cards. Above all, Stan loved his family with all his heart. He will be lovingly remembered by his five children: Jo Ann Girtz of Moorhead, MN, Louise (Karl) Beck of St. Cloud, MN, Barbara (Jerry) Howton of Fuquay Varina, NC, Darlene (Michael) Semmens of Mobridge, SD and Russell (Colleen) Edelman of Mobridge, SD; three step-children: David (Debbie) Brandenburg of Lebanon, Ohio, Kimberly (Milford) Soderberg and Tina (Paul) Cermak all of Lake George; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 7 sisters: Clara Bessler, Evelyn Dutra, Barbara (Joe) Thelen, Lillian (Vern) Landin, Alice (Bob) Zinniel, Beverly Whiddon and Mary (Roger) Hutchings; 5 brothers: Phillip (Linda) Edelman, Manuel (LaVonne) Edelman, Leo (Linda) Edelman, Lyle (Carol) Edelman and Delmar Edelman; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his spouses; 3 brothers: Donald, Paul and Carl; l sister, Flossie; two grandchildren: Keith and Kyle Norberg. Funeral service will be held 2 PM Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will be held 5 PM - 8 PM Friday, November 6, 2015 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and also beginning one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
