Muriel Dena Booge, age 85, a lifetime resident of the Nevis, MN area, peacefully entered eternity on Sunday evening, December 6th, 2015 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN with her loved ones at her side singing “Angels We Have Heard on High”. Muriel was born on October 7, 1930 near Lake George, MN to Reginald and Mata (Sitz) Dudley. She graduated from the Nevis Public High School with the Class of 1948. On August 17, 1948, Muriel was united in marriage to the love of her life, Francis Martin “Franny” Booge. This union was blessed with nine children. She devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade breads, sweet rolls, pumpkin pie and donuts. Muriel would often work late into the night sewing clothes for her children, quilting, or doing embroidery work for family or friends. Muriel loved the outdoors and looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden with Fran each spring, which they would nurture into fruitful abundance to preserve for the needs of their large family. For her enjoyment, Muriel would sit at her kitchen window and watch the birds as they fed from the numerous bird feeders she had collected over the years. Her family is comforted by their memories of her happiness displayed by the wonderful songs she would sing or whistle while she worked. Muriel was a woman of deep faith. She was a life time member of the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset where she was involved in various church organizations. Above all, Muriel’s legacy that will live on in the lives of her children and grandchildren was her unconditional love and devotion to family.
