  DAVID MATHEW FEIL August 18, 1933 – December 22, 2015         David Mathew Feil, age 82, of Park Rapids, MN passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Heritage Living Center with his loved ones at his side.       Dave was born August 18, 1933 in Madison, MN to Frank and Lillian (Kohlmeier) Feil. As a boy he moved with his family to the Arlington, MN area where he attended public schools and graduated with the class of 1951. After graduation he entered the military where he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force serving part of his tour in Japan. After his honorable discharge he returned to Arlington, MN where he gained employment in the plumbing department of Miller Bros. Hardware. On July 12, 1957 he was married to Marion Marie Matz at the Arlington Methodist Church in Arlington. This union was blessed with three daughters: Rhonda, Sandy and Pat. The young family made their home in Arlington, MN where Dave worked for his father-in-law in building construction. He attended school in Mankato at night to become a master plumber and also worked for the Big Stone Canning Company on the side. In 1966, Dave moved with his wife and three daughters to Park Rapids, MN where he worked as a building foreman for Itasca State Park in a career that spanned over twenty-eight years. He retired for two years, and out of a sense of duty to his family he began working for Straight River Manufacturing/Team Industries as a maintenance engineer. He finally retired in 2001. Dave was a man of many interests. He enjoyed hunting on his property north of Itasca State Park and fishing the area lakes. He loved Nascar and football, enjoyed archery, and building inescapable fences for his daughter Pat’s horses. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed working seriously at everything he did. He was a longtime member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids.       He will be lovingly remembered by his wife for these past fifty-eight years, Marion of Park Rapids; three daughters: Rhonda (Al) Roth of Coon Rapids, MN, Sandy (Tom) Johanning of Park Rapids and Pat Feil of Park Rapids; four grandchildren: Stephanie (Dave) Lonsky of East Bethel, MN, Chase (Kelly) Roth of Coon Rapids, MN, Megan (Nate) Warmbold of Park Rapids, Jared (Lindsey) Johanning of Park Rapids; one brother, Francis (Janice) Feil; three great-grandchildren: Jade, Thomas and Amara; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.       He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Wayne and Paul; one sister, Doris and one grandson, Raphael who died in 1981.       A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 28, 2015 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids with Pastor Lori Nielsen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Urn bearers will be Jared Johanning and Chase Roth. Linda Szuszitzky will be the organist and Kim Peterson will be playing the piano. Soloist will be Katie Johanning, who will be singing “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “Daddy’s Hands”. Congregational hymns will be “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” and “Be Still My Soul”. Military honors will be provided by Star of the North Marine Corps League.   Interment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids at a later date.
