Ethan Reed Walter Hjermstad, a life-long resident of Osage, MN, died unexpectedly on January 12, 2016. Ethan was born on May 3, 1991 at St. Joseph’s hospital as the youngest of seven kids. He attended Osage Public Elementary School, Park Rapids Middle and High Schools. Ethan lived life to the fullest and was well known for always smiling. His easy going-relaxed nature made him a pleasure to be around. Ethan was an excellent athlete and sports fan. He participated in football, wrestling, and his favorite sport, baseball. He played on the 2005 Babe Ruth baseball team that went 30-9 and won the state title. He was an avid outdoorsman. In preparation for the hunting season, you could find him working in the woods, building trails, clearing brush, and planting food plots. He also looked forward to going each year to Cobb Bay Lodge in Ontario Canada, where he could explore and catch numerous fish. Most recently, he worked as an apprentice plumber pipefitter with Local 11, under the direction of his father. Above all else, Ethan enjoyed spending his free time with his family and friends. Many of his fondest memories came from the time spent with loved ones where he could listen and tell stories.
