Verna Mae Ronnebaum, age 77, a lifetime Park Rapids area resident, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the St. Joseph’s Area Hospital in Park Rapids with her loved ones at her side. Verna was born on July 5, 1938 in Crosby, ND to Hans and Blanch (Robbins) Hagen. As a small child, she moved with her family to a farm northeast of Park Rapids where she attended school and grew into womanhood. On October 29, 1955 she was united in marriage to Henry Ronnebaum. Verna devoted her life to making a loving home for her family. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress who stayed up late many nights sewing or cooking for her children and grandchildren. In addition to caring for her family, Verna also worked for Wringer Manufacturing, cooked at various local restaurants and worked as a cook and cabin cleaner for the Pine Cone Lodge near Park Rapids. Throughout her life, Verna devoted herself to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. Failing health had caused her to become a resident of the Diamond Willow Assisted Living Residence in Park Rapids. Verna will be lovingly remembered by her four sons: Samuel Ronnebaum, Russ Ronnebaum, Wayne (Cheryl) Ronnebaum and Richard (Sheila) Ronnebaum all of Park Rapids, MN; six grandchildren ; many great grandchildren; two brothers: Stan (Evelyn)Hagen of Park Rapids; Willard (Cindi) Hagen of Braham, MN; three sisters: Delores Holweg and Eva Hagen both of Park Rapids and Janice (Daniel) Engelen of Bemidji; step brother, Milo Hagen of Hemet, CA; two step-sisters: Thelma Decker of Litchfield, MN and Luella Schneider of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Hagen of Osage; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; her daughter, Rhonda; l brother, Charles; 5 step-brothers and 2 step-sisters. Memorial services will be held 11 AM Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids in conjunction with the funeral service for her mother, who died on May 2nd, 2016. Her urn bearers will be her greatgrandchildren who she cared for until just recently: Alycia, Caiden, Marcus and Kianna. She will be laid to rest in the Ronnebaum family plot in the Lake Emma Cemetery north of Park Rapids. Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
