Connie J Shubert

May 14, 1936 — May 8, 2016

Constance “Connie” Jean Davidson Shubert, age 79, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 in Menahga, MN at the Green Pines Acres Nursing Home. Connie was born May 14th, 1936 to Clarence & Phyllis Davidson in Graceville, MN.  After completing high school, Connie attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana for one year. From college, Connie went on to marry and have 3 children; Kristy North, Cory Shubert and Kimberly Shubert-Theis.  A devoted wife, mother and church organist, she began her married life in France, where her first daughter Kristine was born. The family then relocated to Minnesota where their son Cory was born. They then moved to Morris, MN and then went on to St. Louis, Missouri where Connie worked as a secretary while her husband attended Washington University dental school. In 1968, Connie and her family moved to Park Rapids, where her husband opened a dental practice and her third child, Kimberly was born.  Connie was very active in her community and her church. Her passion was to share her musical gifts and talents as a member of the choirs, and as a Missouri Synod liturgical organist at both St. John’s and First English Lutheran church.  Connie also spent her time and devotion doing missionary work. One mission brought her to Honduras, where she assisted Dr. Spangler and a team of dentists. Connie’s mission trips brought her to Honduras six times, as well as a trip to India. In addition to traveling with these groups, Connie loved to travel around the world to such places as Africa, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Former Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Jubliana, Norway, Poland, Scotland, Sweden and Wales.  Connie also had a thirst for knowledge. In 2000 she attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, continuing her education and receiving a degree in English Literature with a minor in Psychology.  After receiving her college diploma, Connie went on to hone her organ playing skills by attending the Fort Wayne Seminary by participating in organ workshops in Fort Wayne, Indiana where over the years she made many new friends. She loved learning the theology behind the music and about the importance that the role of the church organist has within the congregation and to the service. In November of 2015, Connie developed a persistent cough which after countless tests revealed the terminal diagnosis of Stage 4 Endometrial Cancer. 10 days from this diagnosis, Connie passed peacefully on Mother’s Day without pain. We can find comfort in the knowledge that Connie is now       with her Lord in Heaven, her mother and father, and all the saints who have passed before them.   Connie is survived by her brother Curt Davidson; daughters Kristine North and Kimberly Shubert-Theis, son Cory Shubert; niece Susan Davidson, nephews Chris and Douglas Davidson; grandchildren Alex, Zachary, and Taylor North, Vivian and Sullivan Shubert; son-in-laws Randy North and John Theis; daughter-in-law Susie Shubert; and grand puppies Hank and Huey.  Today we do not say goodbye to our dear Mother, Grammy, aunt and sister; we say, see you soon in the Promised Land! Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, May 16, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN.  Visitation will be held 5 to 8 PM Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and beginning one hour prior to the service at the church.  To leave online condolences or, to view the video tribute please visit www.jonespearson.com.
