EDITH BETTY MYERS December 10, 1940 – May 14, 2016 Edith Betty Myers, age 75, a longtime Sebeka, MN area resident, peacefully passed into eternal life on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN with her daughter, Charlotte Myers and family friend, Peter McQuarrie at her side. Betty was born December 10, 1940 in Mercer, ND to Hilbert and Tillie (Bosche) Schmidt. She attended the Prophet Mountain Country School near her home. As a young woman, Edith gained employment working as a waitress first in Jamestown, ND and then ventured to Fargo. On August 30, 1959 she was united in marriage to Melvin Clifford Myers and they were blessed with five children: Virgil, Carleen, Wade, Cammie and Charlotte and one step-daughter, Carol. They moved to Circle Pines, MN where Betty devoted herself to making a loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook who will be long remembered for her fried chicken, mashed potatoes with floured gravy and Sauerkraut. Each spring Betty looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she nurtured into fruitful abundance to help meet the needs of her growing family. For many years she worked for MN Plastics Company in St. Paul. The family then moved to a farm west of Sebeka, MN where Betty worked alongside her husband running a large dairy farm. In 1984, they started the M & W Trucking Company where Betty kept meticulous records of the company bookkeeping. In 2003, they sold the trucking company. Betty loved to crochet, quilt and do needlework. She even published a book on crocheting. Betty was a talented oil base painter. She loved raising colorful flowers, playing bingo and metal detecting. Above all, Betty loved her family with all her heart. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters: Carol (Blackie) Schneider of Mile City, MT, Carleen (David) Senn of Wadena, Cammie (Robert) Peters of Sebeka, MN and Charlotte Myers of St. Paul and Princeton, MN; two sons: Virgil Myers of Sebeka and Wade Myers of Brainer, MN; seventeen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; four brothers: Palmer (Ramona Lelm) Schmidt of Turtle Lake, ND, Benny (Vicki) Schmidt of Turtle Lake, ND, Arnold (Sharon) Schmidt of Pendleton, Oregon and Marvin Schmidt of Lincoln, ND; one sister, Ann Schmidt of Bismarck, ND as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mel in July 2006 and one sister, Deloris. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN with Pastor Scott Warne officiating. Vocalists will be Palmer Schmidt and Ramona Lelm, who will sing “Footsteps” and “Softly and Tenderly”. Special recorded music will be “Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison, “Spirit in the Sky” by Norman Greenbaum, “I Will Praise You’ by Casting Crowns and “Homesick” by Mercy Me. Casket bearers will be Palmer Schmidt, Benny Schmidt, Arnold Schmidt, Marvin Schmidt, Steven Fischer, Brian Fischer, Calvin Johnson, Terry Lake, Peter McQuarrie and Bert Thomas. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 PM Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN and beginning one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
