Robert was born on February 20, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids to John & Janet (Van Den Eykel) Nasser.  He attended the first six grades of elementary school in Dorset before finishing his public education in Park Rapids, graduating from the Park Rapids High School with the class of 1966.  Robert then went on to attend Bemidji State College where he majored in education receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1970.  After several jobs in education, Robert began a career in the grocery business which spanned over 24 years working as a produce manager in Park Rapids, Thief River Falls, Ortonville and Wadena.  Robert was forced into early retirement due to health problems.  However because of passion for helping children with learning to master reading, writing and math, he volunteered up to three days a week in the Frank White Elementary School and also did substitute teaching.  Robert had a great appreciation for reading and the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish.  He enjoyed photography and always took his camera with him out in the woods to photograph wildlife.  He was an avid Minnesota sports fan and also followed his nephews in their sporting events.  Robert was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset where he was active in the Men’s Club.  Above all, Robert invested his life in the lives of others and loved his family with all his heart.    Robert will be lovingly remembered by: one brother Gary Nasser of Dorset; one sister, Jeanne (Bruce) Massie of Park Rapids, two beloved nephews John Massie and Riley Massie and one loving niece Tiffany (Ryan) Ruiz, as well as his great niece and nephew Rilynn and Marshall Ruiz, and a very special cousin and friend, Richard Vanden-Eykel and husband Gunder Austin, with whom he made his home during his last months.  Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers Kenneth and Donald.    Funeral services will be held, 11 AM Friday July 1, 2016 at the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset, with Pastor Chris Davis officiating.  Casket bearers will be John Massie, Riley Massie, Jerry Weaver, Darrel Linden, Vern Nolting and Dick Nelson.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Thursday evening, June 30th at the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset.  Services are under the direction of Jones Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and online condolences may be left at ww.jonespearson.com
