WALLY HEJHAL December 13, 1948 – August 11, 2016         Walter Frank “Wally” Hejhal, age 67, of Park Rapids passed away suddenly at his residence on August 11, 2016.  He was born December 13, 1948 in St. Paul, MN the son of William & Dorothy (Phillips) Hejhal.  He graduated from Monroe High School in St. Paul in 1967 and later that year on November 11, 1967 he married his longtime high school sweetheart Cheryl Holmberg.        Wally and Cheryl have enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Arizona.  Wally loved to travel in his RV and set out with no plans seeking adventure and scenic tours of the back roads.  Wally never met a stranger, he loved people and spending time with others, whether it was at a Nascar race, or car show and he loved his family and spending time with them, traveling, pulling pranks, or just being humorous.  He loved his dogs, and he was a great man of honesty and integrity always willing to lend a hand to those who needed help.  He was a longtime car enthusiast and a member of Northern Knights Car Club.   After serving his apprenticeship at the University of Minnesota, Wally later became self- employed in the construction industry doing drywall finishing for nearly fifty years.       Wally is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Park Rapids, his son and daughter-in-law, James & Roxy Hejhal of Verndale, his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Travis Moore of Mankato, seven grandchildren, Justin & Lindsey, Dexter & Megan, Heather, Mike, and Joshua and one very special great grandson Bryant.  He is also survived by one cousin, Joyce & Gene Wertheimer of Faribault and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Homberg of Motley.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a very special longtime canine companion Gyzmoe.        A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Motley.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Monday August 15, 2016 at the Jones Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids.  and again one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.  Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Motley.
