Margurite Knouse, 102, of Park Rapids, formerly of Akeley, died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at her residence at Care-Age Country Homes in rural Park Rapids. Margurite was born on May 8, 1914 in Atalissa, Iowa to Henry and Margurite (Sandusky) Burhop. She married John Knouse and together they moved to Akeley in 1961. Margurite loved the outdoors and usually could be found taking care of her families large yard and garden or tending to the chickens she raised. When she wasn’t able to be outdoors, she was usually busy making afghans. Margurite is survived by her son Raymond Knouse of Akeley; two grandsons: John (Sue) Knouse of Akeley and Emmett (Jayme) of Tacoma, WA; two great granddaughters Lexie and Karyson; and daughter in law Marylin Knouse of Tacoma, WA. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years John; one brother; two sisters; and one grandson. A private service will be held at a later date.
