Carol Kay Garrett, age 77, a resident of Green Pine Acres in Menahga and formerly of Park Rapids, passed away October 11, 2016 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Carol was born February 18, 1939 in Fargo, North Dakota to Bernard and Lois Grace (Meinke) Sherk. Carol attended Park Rapids Schools and later married James Edward Sharp on December 28, 1955 and was bless with the birth of seven children. Carol worked at Heritage Living Center for over 25 years and she loved her job at the nursing home where she gained many friends while working there and loved spending time with the residents and helping out any way she could. She retired from there in 2001. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and loved traveling with family members taking cruises and was a huge movie buff, there wasn’t too many weekends that she wasn’t at a movie somewhere with one of her children or grandchildren, she also loved to go to one of the bars and listen to her sons band play music and she also enjoyed watching her nephew on UFC. Carol is survived by her children: Gary (Anna) Sharp of Fargo, ND, Timothy (Rhonda) Sharp of Menahga, MN, Daniel Sharp of Fargo, ND, Cheri (John) Christensen of Menahga, MN, and Rick Sharp of Park Rapids, Grandchildren: Scott, Robbie, Angela, Amanda, Jeff, Mya, Victoria and Gabby Sharp, Jordan (Courtney) Stewart, Brandi and Madison Christensen, Craig Glessing, Brandon and Cory Gartner, Brittany (Eric) Smith, and Jessica (Matthew) Spieker and 4 great grandchildren: Nathaniel, Brianne, Savannah, and Kylee Sharp. One brother Ronald (Karen) Sherk of Minneapolis, and two sisters Cindy Sherk of Minneapolis, MN and Tami Frank of Frazee, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard & Lois Sherk, two sons: Gregory Scott Sharp and infant Jeffrey James Sharp, one sister Roxy Hauck, and four brothers Jerry, Larry, Thomas, and Bernard Sherk, and one grandson Gregory Jeffrey Sharp. A celebration of life will be held 1 PM Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids. A reception and luncheon will be hosted by her family immediately following her burial for a time of sharing and fellowship held at the Menahga VFW.
