Betty V. Swenson

January 23, 1925 — November 2, 2016

Betty Virginia (Crosby) Swenson formerly of Osage, Minnesota, died November 2, 2016 at Guardian Angel Care Center in Vancouver, Washington. She was born January 23, 1925 to Arville and Isabelle Crosby in Osage, Minnesota. After her mother died at an early age, she was raised by Fred and Jennie Bateman and their sons, Glen and Grant Bateman. Betty married Eldred (Al) Swenson on June 11, 1943.  They were blessed with 5 children, Tom, Jim, Bonnie, Kaye and Bob.  Betty attended Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, Minnesota prior to moving to Vancouver in 1979, after which she attended Messiah Lutheran. She was an active member of Golden Opts, Quilters and Bible guild. She was a charter member of Heartland Homes in Park Rapids, Minnesota. For many years she was involved in the Rose Society in Vancouver. Betty loved her family, her roses and butterflies. She lived her life with love, faith and grace. She will be greatly missed by many and remembered by all.  Betty is survived by sons, Tom (Sharon), Jim (Detra) of Vancouver; daughter, Kaye Khoury of Frisco, Texas; son, Bob (fiancé, Angie) of Park Rapids, MN; sister, Ellen Cochran of Park Rapids, MN; brother, Eddie Crosby of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law, Virginia Swenson and  Arlys Weaver. She is preceded in death by her husband, Al; daughter, Bonnie DeMaris Fix; brother, Robert Crosby; and her parents.   A memorial service for Betty will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 26th in Calvary Lutheran Church, Park Rapids. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Osage, MN. Memorial donations may be made to Heartland Homes, PO Box 214, Park Rapids, MN 56470.
